Celebration of Life....

Some of you may only know of me through my various internet posting etc. but many of you know me personally and know that i have always valued my Life immensely! i don't sweat the small stuff, my return attitude reflects your attitude upon approach, i am highly intelligent and i love to learn and share.
I am a very patient person but have a very low tolerance for nonsense! i can be dramatically passionate when it comes to my feelings, my passions and my family / friends.

I do not appreciate...out of the blue...emails about why my blog is set up the way it is! I love having you here--but if it doesn't suit your taste...MOVE ON!

There are so many other things going on in my life that i care so much more about than an internet blog! My blog is not a springboard for internet fame for me, nor am i desiring to gain a future career from it. I do it because i enjoy sharing...take what you need and leave the rest for someone else.

I'm sorry that you think i am so stupid that i don't realize that pictures can be copied with some effort. that goal is to make it as difficult as possible to copy them, to  protect my children and family that i have used in these photos. You really should have let your intellect steer you in the direction of a ? and wonder why there are so many awful people in this world that manipulate photos, etc, that a person like me would even have to go thru this to protect her precious photos!

anyway...i say all this to say, because my first instinct was to just ignore the email and keep it moving myself, but then i realized that many of you may really be wondering what has been going on with me and many of you may know from ASG membership, but i finally feel up to sharing.

In December 2011, i lost my first born child. They say people grieve in different ways and i am now a true believing in that. I really thought that because i had be groomed and prepared for that moment for 20 years that when it happened and i got past the initial shock, that i was ok. I really thought that i was handling the situation great and i had so much support from my family and friends and the whole process when so smoothly..i just jumped right back into LIFE after a few weeks.
I quickly learned that grieving is an ongoing process. You have your good days and your bad and sometimes those bad days last for weeks! But the positive thing is that, she was such a happy child, that i know she wouldn't want me to be sad and depressed. So my bad days are sometimes shorter now and i know in the future will get further apart.

I am sharing this video that her Dad and I composed because although it's a little sad to watch, it gives me joy in being able to reflect. And maybe there are other "friends" out there that have lost a child that may find comfort in my video or story. I am considering support groups and have recently conversed with co-workers that have lost children and truly find comfort when i need it, someone else out that may not..so if you need an ear...please feel free to contact me...sometimes a total stranger with a similar experience is all you need to get you thru a moment.

Happy Crafting / Sewing and i'm sure i will be posting something soon, but for right now i am finding comfort in shoe shopping...maybe i will blog about that!

Another Vogue 8593...and a Burda Skirt (09/2008 #108)

First I have to say it again, I LOVE THIS NECKLINE !

This is another rendition of Vogue 8593 from my previous post, and i know i said i was going to do top, but i just couldn't help myself! I love dresses! Although i probably own more pants~dresses are my favorite thing to wear!

This is a matte jersey fabric..from Fashion Fabric Club. A previous post shows all the fabrics I brought in this shipment and I honestly haven't brought any new fabric since then. I have to say...most of my sewing friends have way way more fabric than i do...and i'm not so particular in my fabric selections and types of fabrics as they are...with that said; I use what i buy and i buy what i like! and normally i make purchases of fabric without a garment in mind! I pretty much do the same with patterns!

Buy anywho...this is the full length photo!

This skirt, is a very old, Burda Magazine pattern that i have become very found of lately. I have made a few of them and just didn't even think to take photos of them.

although i have to admit, i'm not that into taking photos of my myself, i enjoy being behind the camera more than infront! And that's weird because i went to modelinng school and everything (Patricia Stevens) when i was younger and quickly found out...that was not for me!! hahaha The things parents put their kids in, to find their interest!  smh...because i do it too, now that i'm a parent!!

Back to the pattern...it's a very easy skirt. Front pleats. Back zipper, although i put my zipper on the side. Contoured waistband. and angled side seams.

The pattern also called for belt loops for a skinny belt which i left off. The top is RTW. I think this skirt might deserve a blazer or vest. I pulled out a project runway vest pattern, that i may try to squeeze in, but i am really wanting to enter one of Pattern Review's upcoming contest, but unless my guy agrees to model for me, than i guess it will have to be the Red Dress Contest! but i would really really prefer the Men's Wear one instead.

Well..that's it for now..
Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Vogue 8593....I love this neckline!!

Yes, i'm back! I have gone through some rough and tough times these past few months...but i'm back! I feel better! My spirit is in tact and i'm ready to get back to sewing and crafting!!!

A few months back, i decided that i love awesome necklines because they compliment my shape, so i went and brought up all the patterns i could find with great necklines and this is one of them. Of course most of them are Vogue, because that's what was on sale at the time. and this is just one of the one's i chose first.

I will NOT be doing a pattern review because this dress has been reviewed over 10 times and that, in my opinion, is enough for anyone to get some input on a pattern!

For this dress i used a tan ponte that i brought from JoAnn's back in the summer time on an outing with my niece. I believe this is my first time working with Ponte fabric but it's really no different that a jersey knit, just more stable, less stretch. I love the feel of it and will absolutely be buying more of it, i like that it's kinda heavy so i can do more dresses and not necessarily be too cold in the winter.

I saw that a previous reviewer on PatternReview, used this pattern to make a shirt, so i think i will try that and maybe make one more of these in a different color. Y'all know I'm obsessed with having 2 of everything! lol

I have got so much catching up to do..but now is not the time because the Raven's are playing the final playoff game and it sounds like it's getting good! gotta go....

Vogue 1219 Donna Karan Collection...UPDATE!

it's coming along i guess! I didn't have much sewing time last weekend and this weekend might be the same but thought i would keep track of my progress.

I cut out all my pieces, did some basting, made my collar and pleats. Most of it is pinned together just for a quick look. When i know I'm not going to sew for a few days in the middle of a project i like to look at it.

This dress is up next ! I realize we are going into fall, but this particular pattern doesn't have a lot of pieces and since my sewing time is limited this weekend between my dress and my niece's homecoming dress...Vogue 1219 it is!!

I hoping to have it finished by tomorrow evening, so we shall see! Well i'm off to see what others did with this pattern, get any pointers, hints, tips, etc. that may be on patternreview !

Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!
